View Full Version : Miss at cruise or light load

I've been experiencing a problem on and off. It seems to be when the car is warmed up. If I'm cruising at say 2000 rpm, you can hear a miss in the exhaust, but if you get on it, it clears up. It accelerates fine, but at very light load or cruise, it seems to miss. I'm thinking module, since everything else is new, including plugs, wires, coil pack, and the engine for that matter. Thanks!

Injectors and MAF sensor are also possibilities.

Well, the injectors are pretty new, they have about 1000 miles on them over the course of about 1.5 years, most of the time just sitting. Its intermittent, so I kinda doubt injectors. Also forgot to mention I run a FAST ecm, so no maf. Sorry. thanks though

Hmm... that could be a tough one if your ignition checks out fine. Be open to the chances of a defective injector or something. I dunno! Anyone?

A bad TPS will do that,
And be really hard to find.
The ecm does some filtering to the various inputs so it might not show in a data log.

What chip do you have? Does it have lean cruise incorporated into it? If so try disabling it if possible and see if it clears your problem up. Sounds like a lean spot in the fuel curve

Bob, its Felpro, so no chip. Still could be lean spot. It was running about 14.9:1 after I had it tuned (at cruise), so I gave it some fuel and it helped, but now it doesn't seem like the problem. Gotta go drag the laptop out and check. I found out today it had a bad battery, so I put a new Optima in. Maybe the battery being bad had something to do with it? Still had good voltage when running, just hard to restart.

Bruce, the TPS is new, changed it when I was chasing a problem last year. I know that doesn't neccesarily mean its good though!

Easy way to find out is drop it down to 13 or 13.5:1 for cruise just to see if it makes a difference. If not the problem is elsewhere, and go back to your original setting
