this is a broad question but doesanyone know what is on the same circut as the ecm and chip that could cause the chip to repeatedly blow. i've destroyed 4 chips in less than a month. The ecm has only blown once, but the chip wont quit. this problem basically came out of nowhere. i know the grounds are ok on other parts of the car, and from what i understand the ecm is basically the ground for all the electronics on that whole circut. i need some shots in the dark here, it made sense that the voltage regulator was doing it but that is not it. someone help, thanks

Are you sure the correct ECM is in the car?

You need to be sure the correct computer and calpac is being used for the 1984-5 turbo set up. This is different than '86-7, and probably unique to your car. Do not think lots of other G-body ECM's will work properly?
I'll try to find the computer part number for 1984-5 tomorrow.
The 87 ECM was found in several other cars. I forget which, some FWD car I think. The 84 and 87 ECMs will also interchange but you need to add a ATS going from an 84 to 87. Also, the 84 MAF is a bit wonky with the 87 but it can be made to work sort of. The best solution is a 87 MAF and ECM and just add an ATS.
The 84 uses the same EPROM so I dont see any way it could be frying it due to it being the wrong ECM and the car probably just wouldnt run if it had the wrong ECM in it because all the calibration data would be different.

Make sure the chips are actually bad, and not the ECM socket. The pins inside the socket get pushed back over time and don't make a good connection with chip. You can use a small needle and carefully bend them back out.

its not the prom pins, the check engine light does not flash rapidly (it wont read the chip at all), and i cant azfford to put any more know good chips in there because they have all blown in less than an hour of driving
