not really much. most minor stuff, ta49 turbo, 36 blues, dutt neck, 4 core rad, 70mm accufab TB/DOG house with power plate, unkown bigger down pipe & the old Cotten SINGLE shot 3" exhuast.
Works for me. the only thing is I know the motor was rebuild about 8k ago & has trw 30 over. we think the heads have been milled thus only allowing 21 boost max with alky.
Unless I go into the motor to see whats up I am stuck at 21 for now.
It is a fun street car as is.

May also want to do a leak down and compression test. A bore-o-scope to look into the cylinders would also be neat.. and look at plugs for any abnormalities.
Takes time to figure some cars out. Especially if the engines have been out and work performed.
You could have oil contamination in the intake or cylinders giving you the grief.
Keep running the alky.. it will over time help clean out anything in the combustion chambers. My current TTA only ran on race gas before I bought it.. was carboned up pretty good.. took a long time to get it to run clean. Top Engine cleaner help it.

Thanks man!
Yea, somethin def up with the internals on that motor. I'd love more time to find out what was done to it. Bet there is more than one thing wrong. Not a bad running little car but def more there....
I see messed up stuff all the time tearing into rebuilt engines. I'm workin on one right now that I pulled the motor on to do head gaskets, rear main and check everything out. Pretty glad I did. Loose head bolts, one tooth off on the timing chain, rear main seal installed wrong, silicone all over the oil pump cover, shimmed to death valve springs... Motor is 3 yrs old and was getting ready to wipe the cam. 2 lifters were not spinning at all. Gettin a roller cam, new bearings, Cometics, front cover rebuilt/modded, dutt neck installed and a little paint........Be good as new in a couple days.....

Whoa, that sounds like a botch job. Was that a "professional" job too? I had an engine built for my old T/A that was totally botched by a "professional". He had a very nice shop with top of the line equipment and used good parts, he (or one of his monkeys) just plains sucked building my Olds 403.

Yes, "professionally" built.

Russ is "The Man"
Takes patience, time, and money.. once a car is "Sorted out" it stays like that for a long time. Its just hard sometimes with some cars. Only when theyre unmolested originals is when things get into shape quickly.
Let Russ have at it.. and spend some time on it.. a weekend here or there.. it will come together.
I had a car here with a BL at 150 problem for 3 weekends.. ended being a gasket issue between the throttle body and dog house.. at times I didnt want to charge my customer since progress didnt appear to be going forward.. but we all make livings by being professional at what we do.

Hey Russ! Uh, I mean hey Dude!
Were those "shimmed to death valve springs" on the same motor as all the other mistakes? You know that's my bud's car. I gave him a set of heads when he was gathering parts to bring to the "professional". I had that set of heads done (stock springs, 3 angle valve job) at a local shop that is trustworthy. I had them on my motor for like 50 miles till I spun a bearing.Ended up, I found another motor that Manchester Racing built for me that ran for 150,000 miles. So the 50 mile heads were just sitting in my cellar and he needed them. They were not shimmed. The "professional" must have saved them for another project and used his other junk-just like he evidently did with a few more parts that my Bud brought up to him. I don't know how my friend can stay so calm about it. He was telling me about all the crap that was going on and the way he was telling the story he had me in stitches over the phone.:haha: Take good care of him. I know you will.
BTW, tranny is still great (GOOD JOB) and I have spent a little time tuning recently with the alky flow, translator+ and extender. Leaned the crap out of it-now she really rips at 25 lbs. Don't know how long this ATK motor will last but so far everything has been fine.
Seeing how people can see our location in Mass. I think I should state for the record that this motor that was all botched up was in no way related to Jack Cotton or his engine builder. It was someone entirely different. Someone who obviously doesn't have much of a clue-or was drinking heavily at the time. I'd hate to have someone trying to connect the dots and come up thinking it was Jack because of the location. He had nothing to do with this motor.

Yea it's insane how this engine even made it out of the parkin lot Bob. One of the rod journals was .006 smaller than the rest yet they all had .010 bearings on them........ Anyhow, it's history. Getting the parts together now and he'll be back cruisin asap.
