i would appreciate some help here, im currently turning a 87 NA car into a turbo regal, and the rear end is going in sometime real soon-
here are the parts i have sitting here for the car, just need to know what route to go into the future.
here is what i have "sitting in boxes" that i plan to use, if you know something wont work right in the future, let me know now before i do this..
Hotchkiss 1401 ADJUSTABLE TRAILING ARM MOUNT BRACES "4 speed bars"
metco aluminum lower non adj control arms
south side non adj uppers
QA1 shocks
GOLD lakewood no hop bars with DC TECH made up bushings.
those parts are what i have, and dont plan on the car going faster than 10.2 ET ... non lockup convertor, launching with a trans brake, car should weigh right at 3000-3100
i need to know if Paul Ferrys rear swaybar that keeps the car straight will work with the lakewood no hop bars, or i should just put this combo together and see what happens..
i really want to use those no hops, i have buddies with the same no hops but less other goodies getting 1.53 to 1.45 60's which are not racecars... mine is "cut up" so to speak so i assume it will get the same if not better sixty foots....
anyway, thats my combo for the rear suspension what do you think?
what is a part number for some ?stiff? rear springs that i can order tonight for my combo? ive got some TRW rear springs from advanced, but not sure if they are the ones i will need to make this car launch hard.
thanks guys

BW i am no expert on this but i know what works...
if it was me and my car i would
box the upper and lowers
set the pinion angle at about 4*
air bags
atr bar
cargo springs
90/10s/no front bar etc
i have seen more then one local car go deep 10s with more 60ft left in them with that lo tech combo
maybe that will help

I've heard of several people breaking the rear end housing when using no hop bars. I installed them on a friends car and I didnt like the way it acted, but it gets 1.6 60fts on drag radials running mid 12's.

we have 5 or 6 guys running the no hops and nobodys broken anything yet-
just spent 5 hours putting the no hops on the rear, bolting on the lower control arms, and then pulling the other rear end out of the car, and installing the new one-
only thing left to do is hook up the brake hose and setup the 4 speed bars and take it for a spin-
i did find out that paul ferries rear sway bar will work with the no hops, if i need it in the future, it will go on..
here is a picture of my rolling tool box, what do you think of it?
thanks for the help

sorry, i did ignore your response to my thread because i was really destined to put the no hops on the car, and quite a few parts you said to use werent the ones i wanted to use :)
i dont know if you knew, but ive been told that your not supposed to use air bags with the no hop bars because they dont allow the rear to raise as much :beerglass i also had the upper bars and lowers, so i didnt want to box my stockers, since my mind was set in motion to get these parts i have sitting put on the car... which i did check the pics, must say im happy so far the least..... my neighbors hate me!!!!!!
i must say the car does raise up quite alot when i try to get after it too, i drove it in the rain today to get to the scale house seemed to be fine on the highway at 85 MPH...
thanks for the complement, its a full bench, NO split, ONLY 2 options, defrost and drivers remote mirror
car came with AM, no tilt,no cruise ,crank windows, no power locks, no trunk release, no tilt, soon to have no defrost and chrome mirrors :anbet:
quick6 you have a pm. By the way that car will be a hell of a sleeper. I saw an NA car in town today and thought maybe it was one of yours....

"GOLD lakewood no hop bars with DC TECH made up bushings. "
had one car w/ them in the shop. He had broken the retainer bolts for the 4th time. The last time, it broke the flange on the axle hsg.
I Talked w/ some vendor folks that have had them returned for the same reason.
Bottom line: You don't need them, and they likely won't stand up to the power you will have to produce to go "10's".
Raising the rear of the uppers too far will cause wierd things to happen at hi speed...Ask me how I know. BTDT.. :dong:
W/ the HALS, the HR bar and a good set of control arms, you will have a good combo to tune with.
Suggest a set of new stock springs on the rear, and a set of MOROSO BBC springs and HALS on the ft.
W/ the HR bar, you forget the air bags, No hops, etc.
If the car is getting alot of body/axle separation on launch, something is wrong w/ the setup....The car should pitch rotate, have little to no twist.
A 6pt roll bar or an 8pt or more cage is an IMPORTANT add-on for proper tuning of the chassis. Without it, all you will accomplish is more/larger cracks in the roof pillars, inconsistent short times, etc... :ooops: :nixweiss:
