You mean there wasn't ONE DAMN car there:tantrum2:
Man this sucks I built a car just for this class and no other participation:frown:
Anybody know what the record for a stock turbo/IC car is? I am not gonna piss all this away, I am gonna at least try to set a record:D
I guess BPG runs Reds rules, TSS, so no chance there either huh:frown:
Anybody want to have a stock turbo/IC race somewhere, anywhere:nixweiss:

I understand your point, I feel like a stock turbo and a stock I/C should limit the class greatly, shows what can be done with the block instead of a huge turbo, just IMO!
I just wanted a class to race in that didn't go into the 10's or 9's. A class that could be ran without a cage etc........ I put one in for when we move up can! Car probably not that fast as it sits:icon16:

I still think it should have been stock intercooler, stock turbo, stock airbox, stock downpipe and elbow, stock headers...........
I'll still build one if it were ever to be that way...... but when the rules let in aftermarket cold air kits and filters, and TH downpipes I had to pull out. That's just not what "Factory Stock" is to me.

I was thinking about doing this when I was a transition point this winter, but opted against it. I didn't want to slow the car down for one or two races a year.

I should have taken my car, it would not have mattered that it will not shift out of first gear as it sits! :icon16:

Silly question , but where are the final rulz for this class. That main TFS thread is confusing as hell to me ..

Thanks Shane. I had seen the rules there but considering the TSL rules were not correct , but posted from a very early draft, i did not think the TFS would have been right.
I wish i would have kept my TType. Would have been perfect for this.

Neither is a big dollar engine......those are for 'race cars"
I would rather see a class with aftermarket cold air kits and THDP's allowed, but limit it to stock longblocks. Obviously that is virtually impossible to police so I see why it is likely to never happen.
We are doing a stock longblock & stock turbo contest in our local club. But since we all know and trust each other the policing portion is not really an issue.

You are right it would be hard to police, but how long are many "stock" longblocks are gonna be left? If you go that route, is a 160 thermostat stock:thinking:
IMO once you change ANYTHING from stock, true stock goes out the window. I liked the idea of a stock turbo and I/C combon that is enough limits in those to keep things more even, at least entry level speeds!

the car has unopened motor, thdp, 2.5 exhaust, cold air intake, chip, adj fuel press regulator...everything completely stock
ran 1.68 60fts on the 235 DRs...those little MTs are amazing :)
we still had a little timing and boost to play with...some tuning and cooler weather will hopefully put us in the 11's :D

There are tons and tons of guys running stock longblocks still. Now running a stock turbo and IC there are certainly less, but I think that is the kind of class that caters to the entry level guys, which is what I thought this class was originally designed for. FWIW, my 87 T is very close to where the rules are now, except I have 16" wheels so I am running 255/50/16 MT DR's and I have dutt neck on the IC. Good enough for low 12's so far, but it sure wouldn't be close to someone with a built engine like you have.

My motor isn't as built as it must seem. It is only 239 cubic inches, and an eagle crank:nixweiss: I was looking more for reliablity out of the motor than speed, there is ONLY so much can be done with a stock turbo and IC. Think about it a stock turbo can only force so much air and then the stock IC only flows what half of the big F/M's do:nixweiss: If you can't fill the cylinders with air a big bad motor ain't going to do that much good! We just put, what we hope, is a good combo together. We could be wrong and it only run 12's who knows. Also remember the tire size we are limited too with TFS, how much HP can you put to those smaller tires:nixweiss: Could turn into ice skates real quick with too much power!

Well, my motor in my GN is only 235 ci and it's good enough for low 10's, but I understand what you mean. Even still, not too many stockers are gonna keep up with a higher cube, well built, ported heads and cam car regardless of the turbo and IC used.
My guess is between Dan and Jay, they probably figured out a really awesome custom cam to work well with the stock turbo.
Also, unless you went .060 overbore, I can't see how you possibly got 239 ci without stroking the motor, which I thought was not allowed in a TFS class ?
Also, I know Marka Gallina has gone 10.89 with a stock turbo, and I beieve a stock TTA IC when she was racing her TTA many years back. I personally witnessed her do something in the 11.20's at our track a couple of years ago, so it can be done. I'm sure you and your guys (Jay, Dan etc) know that or you wouldn't have been working so hard.
Best of luck with the new motor. I sure with the right combo it will really fly!
