:nixweiss: anyone know where i can get a chip for the stock ECM that can be programed for a 6 speed transmission ??? :nixweiss:

Since our ECM's only use 3rd and 4th gear switches for trans feedback (TCC is not monitored) you should be able to use any chip with a "stall saver" added since the clutch/flywheel will be lighter than a converter.

Im not sure of the exact weight but i think with the EAGLE CRANK,H BEAM RODS,CENTERFOCE FLYWHEEL,CENTERFORCE DUAL FRICTION CLUTCH,and the BHJ BALANCER/DAMPER i'm probably close to if not over the weight of the stock converter.
That said im not sure what the "stall saver" is but do you still think i need one? Or does anyone else have any opinions.
Thanks Jim

Stall Saver is a term used in the calibration for lack of inertia on the crank. See, the factory calculated a certain amount of inertia based on the weight of the rotating assy. Basically idle control and throttle follower are calbrated for a certain weight. As you move into lighter internals, in most cases, a "let off the gas stall" happens because the inertia isnt great enough to sustain keeping everything spinning until the ECM can catch it. SO what is done, is a few parameters in the chip are modified, to lessen the chance of this type of stall. Basically, speeding up the IAC "loop", increasing the idle speed "samples", lessening or removing DFCO, stuff like that. Aside from this kind of stuff.. you should have no problem in your conversion.
