I would like to run a 0 guage wire to my trunk if possible, to power 2 Kicker amps (KX 800x4 and KX 600x1) ,i heard of guys running it under car in frame rail and would like to know what success they have had and wich side they ran it down
Thanx

My opinion on that is 0 gauge is too big for two amps. If your going to add more amps use 0. You cant go wrong with 0 either way...it's just kinda big and a little hard to work with. Never run amp wires outside of your car. I've never heard of any horror stories but everyone I know says it's bad. I have two high powered rockford amps (bd1500 and 1050S) I used a 4 gauge no problem. Run the power wire down one side of the car and all the other wires down the other side. I unhooked my stereo system because I was going to get my trunk 'glassed...the need for speed took over. Removed everything for now.

Since your going to use two amps, run your 0 gauge power wire with the RIGHT SIZE inline fuse about 12 inches from your battery. In your trunk, use a dual fuse block and again use the right size fuse for each amp. From your dual fuse block you can run 4 gauge to each amp. Find a good ground in your trunk...very important also. Your good to go.

EXCELLENT site Benz1!!! I've refered to that site several times.

First off i want to thank you for the compliment
Second is I agree that 0 gauge is far to difficult to work with and will look into either 2 gauge or two 4 gauge wires fused at both 6" from battery and fused in the trunk again. Man reading, comprehending ,planning and patients are the Keys to a successfull intsall
But i have no patients for this $hit I want things done yesterday
Thanx

Hey, I got you and another poster mixed up, sorry about that.

FYI, I ran one 4gauge wire from my battery to my trunk for two amps. There I used a dual fuse block. I kinda hate messing with stereo stuff...your right about reading, comprehending...that site is very technical. Hard for a beginner to understand. Too much info. But after hours of studying it can be figured out enough to where you can make a good install. I also went to my local sound shop and asked if everything I did was ok before I gave it juice.

Did you see that GN on ebay with the trunk kit? It's the best GN design I've ever seen to date. I found out where the guy got it. That is in my future...I'm going ot try to fugure out how to post the pic.

You mean to tell me you're gonna be armed with almost 4000 watts of power? Or you mean that 800 watt amp is 200/chan?

If were talking 1400 watts then 1400 watts / 14 v is 100 amps max. 4 gauge wire will be fine for that install. Additionally, a 1f capacitor would be a good additiion to the system. Put it as close to the amps as possible. If you meant 800 watts x 4 then that amp must be HUGE and you'll need some serious cable to it.

I guess I never showed you my system when you stopped by my house. I got just under 1200 watts and 2 1 farad caps and my lights dont flicker at all. I have hit 141 db with it in an IASCA competitin as well, so the system is no slouch :) I got HLCD's, mids and subs. 6 speakers is all I put in my car and its won a best of 4th place in an IASCA event.

I did blow a 50a fuse with the sub amp on a SPL test as well :) So 14v x 50a is what 700 watts roughly? It was cranking pretty good :-

BTW: How'd you make out with the car falling on its face? I havent heard back from you.

Hey Jim
I have had this Stuff for over two years now
Pioneer head unit DEH77-DH (For sale) never used open box
Kicker company says to use 2 gauge
Kicker KX D class 600x1 = 2 kicker CVR Subs Dual Voice coil At 2 ohm (mabey for sale)
Kicker KX 800x4 = 2 Infinity Kappa 5 1/4 in concert area and 2 5 1/4 infinity Kappa perfect series in Q forms or no Qforms and Kappa perfects in the doors and tweeter either up by the windshield or in the upper door panels
no subs and 2 infinity 693.5i in the hat shelf , i realy do not want to use the Qforms, too much work ,the whole interior was striped to a shell and dynamated, everything was removed and the floor was por 15 nd left to dry for two weeks and then it took me two weeks to sound deton it then i ran all my cables except for the 0 gauge its far too cumbersome to work with,
as for the miss ,i havnt had any time and i will run the car with scanner and record results ,i think either coil or rev limiter causing it ,for know its seems to be much better and im takin it easy
Thanx :lickit:
