Why would you build a class specific car?
Is the pay out worth building a class specific car?

With the way the rules have evolved I doubt I'd ever build a class specific car.
The only way to make a small fortune in racing is to start with a big one.

Just for the competition! I built a class specific car but with just a turbo and I/C change, + a little tuning it should be a whole different beast!

I just don't see the point of building a car just for a class or two.
Let’s use this small number for argument sake $10k
Ok I live in New York my car cost me $10k to build
Ill trailer it to BG and stay the week-end that’s another $1500 to be on the low side
Then comes entry fees race fuel $350.
And that’s with out breaking any parts.
If I win first place what’s the payout less then $1000 or at least $5k
Help me with this guys.

its mostly personal pride man. no other reason then a like/love for our cars and personal pride.
no matter how good the pay offs are the $$$ will prolly never come close to the investment that is been put in to the cars.
Its a personal choice.

No, I build a car like I want. Usually I already know a class it might fit in so I may choose a few parts so if I want to race a heads up class with it, I can.

When I started the build up on my car, it just happened to fit in the TSM class. So that is the class I will race at BG and Reynolds, if I ever get the car finished. A couple of kids put a damper on the car spending :crying: .

I have a Stage car and although love class racing refuse to hack up my car to make it a full blown race car. If I was going to do it, I would buy a roller or a class car completed already. The pay-outs are not why people do it, it is a hobby that they enjoy, a expensive hobby at that. :frown:

Tell me about it. When I started this V8 car most guys ran 5.40's to 5.60's and a race car would run you around 20-30k. In a short time some guys have gone 5.0's, even more in the teens with lots in the .20's. Now a top running car will have minimum of 30k in the engine alone, total car cost upwards 70k:crying: We have nitrous guys now paying over 50k for a dyno'd ready to rock Big Block and then having to build a car for it. All for a chance at 2k per race:nixweiss: Like Travis said, it's all about the ego and not the money. I don't like loosing but when guys have as much money in a long block as I have in my car I'm learning to get used to it. So far out of 5 races I've managed 2 runner-ups. Not what I'm used to but I do it for enjoyment.
