what is good oil to use when firing up the motor for the first time after it is been rebuilt? someone told me to use nondetergent oil at first becuase this will help seat the rings quicker. what are some of you guys suggestions. :anbet: :anbet: :anbet:

Personally I would use regular 10w30 dyno oil, synthetic will not allow the cam and rings to break in properly

Sorry I should have said "dino" oil, meaning dinosaur. Non synthetic, your typical Valvoline, Quaker State, etc

I would use a straight 30 wt. or a 10-40 cause of the additive package, put in a bottle of GM EOS and over fill it by about half qt. or more, if this is a new motor you should have about 6.5 quarts or so.

Shell Rotella T oil, Walmart has it. 15/40. Good break in oil.

I know this guy in Memphis that has a 8 sec white T-Type he said to use any Quaker State oil and you will be OK. I think his name is Scooter and he is always at the Memphis Motorsport park giving out tips. :elefant:
