Im rebuilding my engine due to a oil pressure of 10 across the RPM range.
Need some suggestions on what to buy, pistons, bearings, should I get a high volume front cover and pump? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Is this your first Buick rebuild? They are quite a bit different than your typical Ford or Chevy small block

Yes it is, I would appresciate a good run through on what to tackle first and what have you. Looking to get it done before spring rolls around.

I am not the one to talk to since I have no rebuild exp, but listen to guys like Bill Anderson, Lawrence Conley, Frank G, Jack Cotton (sorry dont know the last name) and Kendall Fredrick. These guys and others on here really know their stuff and will point you in the right direction.
I will warn you that a Buick V6 is not a good engine to try to tackle your first rebuild on since the tolerances on this engine are pretty tight. Not much margin for error

Im not going to be doing most of the work, my dads friend does this for a living and has worked on some GN's in the past. I just wanted to see what Im getting into and what parts I should buy, car is street driven mostly, mods include
TA-51
3 in DP
Hooker exhaust
bored .030 over
206/206 cam
v2 front mount and some other random things like fuel pump and other small things

You might need a new block. .040 is usually the max on these blocks that most builders will go. After that the cylinder walls get pretty thin to support the extreme pressures that occur under boost.

Wait you lost me there, your saying .030 is bored too much? isnt .040 more then that. i have seen many blocks on here that are .030 over

Its .030 already right? Do you intend to bore it out more for the rebuild, or just do the bottom end?

Oh i see what you mean now, no im not gonna bore it out Im going to do bottom end, pistons, front cover, oil pump, timing chain and so on

Now what do you suggest I do, considering it is already bored over. Im only 17 and Im not looking to spend more then i absolutely have to so a new block may not be in the future.

Well someone else will have to chime in on whether you can just do the bottom end, but here is what I would do:
1. Find out why it has bad oil pressure
2. Do a compression test
3. Do a leakdown test
If 2 and 3 come out okay then you can just do the bottom end and cam, and leave the pistons and cylinders alone. Have your mechanic do the tests and give us the results, it shouldnt cost a whole lot

Thanks alot, tomorrow we plan on pulling the engine and finding out why the oil pressure is low. Ill have him do both those tests as well before its out.

Ive lost 2 rod bearings due to low oil pressure, becuase of these dang oil pumps... hi volume pump goe sin on the rebuild im doing now... I knwo most people dont ahv epump pressures but, with an engine running 1500 rpm 3 poudn of oil pressure simply aint enough..... and locke din 4lo idling over rocks this is all I hit. Pressure si fine at higher rpm.. stock pump just dotn pump enough to kepe the engine goin at low rpm. This is my first rebuild without help. Ive been helpign rebuild engines for a while. never done one on my own.
Im having the heads ported and polished, a 3 angle valve job, and having them trued up. I was going to shave them down some for compresion, but was afraid id have valve/piston clearance problems. My rocker arms are worn becuase of low oil pressure, so those will be replaced too.... probably with roller rockers. Adn a true rolling timming set will be installed.
