Jay you burned me an alky chip in the summer for my car, 22 degrees. Now the Thrasher I had (T-97) was supposed to be about 22 degrees also. I cant believe the difference in the two chips. I had major knock once I put the Jay C chip in, and had to dial my turn on point back to 10.5 psi (3psi less than before) and I had to jet bigger. The JC chip had WAY more power and top end. :applaus:
My question is what the hell did you put in that thing to make such a difference between yours and the Thrasher? Do you accelerate the timing curve to bring full timing a lot sooner, or lean it down low?
I dont expect you to divulge all your secrets, but I just am curious as to how there was such a difference. I never thought it would be that different
BTW my car is stock with blue tops and free mods.
Truthfully, I dont know what the differences are. I haven't looked at a Thrasher chip in many, many years and I dont think I ever saw a 97 anyway.
But, for propane, I probably did give you 21-22 degrees of timing.

I'll agree whole-heartedly with HairDrier.
I had a Red's 100 octane in my car when I first bought it, wow that chip is way to rich down low especially for 42.5#'s and never worked right with my alky setup. Had Jay burn me one for alky; 100 octane 22-23 degrees of timing. I have never looked back. The car spools up instantly and I can now run 21-22 psi on the street, not bad for the stock turbo, eh? :arco:

No my alcohol kit started life as a Jay Carter kit. It has since been "Mutated" :arco:

I've run quite a few JC chips over the past 6 years i've been into these cars.
I've ran one of his variable timing chips in the past in my 86 GN and they ROCK. On C-16 and a MM Race Chip on slicks the car ran a best of 12.88@106 (1.77 short time) with 19# of boost (20+ slowed the car down), Bluetops, walbro 307. stock turbo, ic, etc. This was WELL TUNED. I ran the car again, 17# of boost, street tires, pump gas, very similar track conditions, With the Variable Timing chip the car ran 13.1@105 (2.0 short time).
Right now in my 85 conversion have a REAL MILD street chip since Cali gas sucks so hard and a Variable timing chip on the way.
