Anyone have a diagram how the 5 1/4 door speakers go in?I have the concert sound option but my speakers are missing. I am also missing the concert sound hangers. The "pod" that mounts to the lower door panel is empty.I did see a pair on ebay a while back...I may have to order a set.I have an awsome set of JBL 6X9s.They have a huge magnet. I am worried that with the adapter plates that there wont be enough clearance as I have a set of seat braces installed..Any suggestions?

Cheap speakers will sound better with low power. Big magnet speakers need POWER. The OEM speakers may be a funny Ohm. The rear are around 10 Ohm, the front dash are around 4 Ohm I believe, and the doors are yet another Ohm. Wierd set-up. Look at Kirbans web site??

I wouldnt change these speakers if I didnt have a major amp to power them by.I have an arsenal of audio equipment in the basement.I would like to put Infinity Kappa 4"component drivers in the door and try to fit a dome tweeter in the dash.6X9s in the rear and possibly a sub powered by it's own amp.I work in a precision machine shop....I think I am going to have to build a couple if custom brackets for the doors (no hangers), and the dash.

If your car did not have concert sound, you still have the place to mount it in your door. You just need to cut out the holes. You will see the three indents for the screws and I think need to cut the big round hole for the speaker. It's almost done for you, just finish it off.

The little pods can be grabbed from many different GM cars.

Not sure about a hanger??

I have Kappa 5-1/4 components that will be going into my doors, and the tweeters will go into the dash. I also have a set of JBL 6x9's (great minds think alike, right?) that are already in the rear with the ebay-special plastic adapters and I have the rear seat braces too. It's a tight fit, and it's not so pretty, but it fits, and it works.

I haven't test-fit the 5-1/4's in the concert sound brackets yet, but I can do it tommorrow and let you know. I can also take some pics of the 6x9's and how they fit. Hope this helps...

Test fit my 5-1/4" Kappas tonight and they fit perfect in the concert sound brackets. I know you don't have any of them, but they seem easy enough to duplicate. Basically, the bracket is just a way to connect the different sized spacers needed to mount the speaker flush with the concert panel. The bolt holes in the door line up perfectly with my speakers.

Sorry I didn't get to it tonight, but I WILL take pics of the mounted 6x9's tommorrow. I can take some pics and measurements of those brackets too. If you are planning on building brackets for the door and dash anyway, these should be pretty easy to copy.

Wow, sorry this took so long, but here are the pics. It turns out that the 6x9's w/ adaptors don't really have a problem clearing the aftermarket seat braces so much as they have a problem with clearing those stock braces(?).

Here are some shots of the brackets. I need to get some measurements on these bad boys, but basically there are two posts of equal length, and one more that's about 2/3 of their length. I know that's kind of a retarded explanation, but I'll try to get some measurements tonight.
