And those racing in TSM that enter the Point Series are eligible for a few hundred more from our 'purse.'

Nick I would like to see the difference between pay-outs for BG VS Indy. The only reason I ask this, as there was some carnage in BG and it is not cheap to race and travel. I am sure it would only help the Indy event and push people to get there cars back together. I would also like to see the race schedule posted soon, June will be hot and I think it is important that the racers know you are starting the program late to avoid the hot sun:beer:

You were at BG, you post their payouts as I do not have this info, other than the complaints I have heard.:nixweiss:

I was there Nick but did not have access to the pay-outs. I only know what I have heard that pay-outs were a little light. Not bashing the event, but with Fuel cost and the economy, I think many of these events are going to suffer unless the pay-out program is stepped up. :frown:

As you know, there is more to these events that race payouts. At Indy and Salem, the payouts are light-years ahead of any other Buick race event. Racers and spectators WILL come despites gas prices if the entire event is of quality and professional operation.
These goals are present, and foremost, in the event planners and staff for Indy and Salem. A few bucks more for a tank of gas is not the deciding factor.
At the Indy event, the staff and everyone is knowledgeable in how to run this type event and has a proven track record, a very positive one I may add. What BG has done is of no interest to our way of handling our event.
We have proven that if you treat the people, including racers which are people, the best possible way and not insult their intelligence, give back to them by sharing gate and racer revenue, they WILL attend.
Don't know personally about the East coast, but we are seeing and building more Buicks for the street and strip here in the West. Contrary to some opinions, we see and feel Buicks in racing will be around for a long time yet. Just look at the parts vendors are developing and building to allow us the not only keep them on the track, but have them going even faster.
Forget about the situation in BG, get out and support the Buick events like Norwalk, Salem and Indy that care about the racers and enthusiasts, not how much $$$$ they can generate.
See you soon in Indy Travis!

Well, wipe the tears Jim, what I said also applies to you, John and the rest of the great staff at the Salem event!:rockwoot:
You guys need to be proud of last years Salem event that paid out ~$9000 to racers even with much less attendance than the BG event that year.:D

14 classes multiplied by $1200 = $16,800 planned for the event.
actual classes run --- I counted 9 classes multiplied by $1200 = $10,800
No gse, gsp, fwd, tfs, tsl
There seemed ot be a lot of hype about payout, sponsors etc and everyone should be there bcuz of the payout, HOWEVER, the payout is based on participants with 8 or more cars... Set high payouts but have stipulations...
How about $2,000 winner payout based on 32 cars --- yeah, I can sponsor that race, personally, wait, 2nd thought -- NO. Just kidding, more events means less money to spread.
Also, what was the total car count, since the numbers were simple, assigned as you registered or showed up to the event. Even if the numbers were less than expected... the total please --- Just curious...
I went to Bowling Green and a few other vacations this past year, travelling to Arizona, Las Vegas, Jamaica and TN vs the snowyyyyy winter of Wisconsin, but I can change that for next year. Vacation to me is the beach, drinks and lazy dayze.
And I am always spending money on stock NOS replacement parts, so the funds were a little lowwwwwwwww this year....

Monkey shit or what ever but a while back I asked for a recap of the class winners and the payouts for each. Did I miss it or was it never published or made known? If so why not?

I asked on this board not long after the event. Still do not see a response or the info requested. Can you supply this info? If not, who can? If for some reason my original post fell thru the cracks, I'm asking again here.

I thought you might know because up front before the event it was you who made the initial payouts amounts post. Kind of surprised you now don't know how much was actually paid out.
Also you said "adjustment will be made accordingly for lesser number of cars".
This statement is what made me wonder what amounts were paid out in these lesser car amount classes.

How many cars were in your class V8 Racr (whoever you are)?
We had 6 in TSO and the winner received over $1000 and the runner up received $400. That is more than I have EVER received any of the years I have won TSO. I was runner up at BG this year and received $85.
BTW: I am NOT criticizing the GSCA. Their payout funds weren't available this year.

There was 4 of us for BLS, 1 GSP and 2 GSE. We all ended up either running super 16 or exhibition. GSE and GSP were willing to move up to a Limited Street but you can race what doesn't exist or what isn't allowed. What doesn't work well is having Super 16 on the same day as the rest of the v-8 classes. You can only race one and the cars fit in both. So when it looks like a low car count, guys bail for a chance at more money. We tried to make last minute "adjustments" at the track to get all the v-8 cars in one class but I was told the classes were set and final. Basically, they were canceled. :bs2: It funny that I was told Bob Makely was in charge of the v-8 classes(GSE and GSP) but no one had talked to him once about anything or about being in charge or coordinating the v-8 classes. Plus he had already stated he wasn't having anything to do with running the v-8 classes anymore. The v-8 classes were a joke at Indy. If I would have know ahead of time how things were going to run at Indy for us v-8 guys, I would have just got with all the guys and we would have all ran GSP. Splitting a purse is better than no purse.

A lot of good info here about the event how the race program was "executed" but still curious of the payout breakdown for each class that was run. I've asked on the BHP board but still no response.

If the "club" will not publish their race payouts in advance, and do not treat the racers in a fair manner, it is an obligation to let the Buick community know what is taking place.
My opinion is that the "club" has insulted ALL the racers that attended last weeks event with their obvious selfish approach, which actually borders on criminal, in not paying racer fees, especially like Super 16, and specific sponsor money to the race classes.
Please tell me, the class winners, all the racers and the rest of the Buick community why Paul, or anyone, should not point this out and give specific facts?? :nixweiss:
Nick,
What a tangled "thread" you weave. Shame on you. Treat us like you think we have at least "some" intelligence. Your sidestepping is getting old. It seems before "Indy" you had all of the "answers", yet now you have none. How convenient. And the "Indy" website has no answers either. How convenient. With your above post, you demanded answers concerning payouts at a certain club organized event, insinuated they were engaging in criminal activity, and took it upon yourself to demand "facts". But now that the shoe is on the other foot, you just shuck and jive your way around, and treat us like third class citizens.
You and "Indy" would be better served admitting the truth, that your plans did not materialize as youd hoped and expected, and that the payouts were indeed not what was advertised due to class cancellations. Your including the 8 car minimum field rule saved the event a lot of money, boy that was slick. FWIW, I checked into this "clubs" payout and rules policies and discovered that unlike your event, this "club" paid out to every class reguardless of car count, and no money was channeled elsewhere. What happened to the payout money at "Indy" that was not paid to the classes that were cancelled? Where was it channeled? To the bottom line of the event? Please tell us all how this does not "actually borders on criminal, in not paying racer fees". Those were your words Nick.
Just step up and give the people the answers and facts they deserve Nick. Or at least in the future, avoid casting stones when you live in a glass house.
