I bought a used converter and the guy said he third gear started breaking up and he was sure some got through! What is the best way to flush this thing?

really the only way is to have a converter shop cut it open and clean it. in the old days we used to drill and tap the non lock up converters and flush them with solvent. then put a pipe plug back in. i really dont recommend doing this unless you have it balanced.

What he said...I wouldn't take a chance on a used convertor unless you cut it open. I've built a few budget trannys where people just put the same convertor back in without cleaning it. It doesn't take long to eat up a pump when you have trash grinding on the aluminum pump housing.

What he said, have a shop cut it open, and do it correctly.

I paid like 90 bucks for it but, it is only an orange stripe converter.
How much should someone charge to do this:nixweiss:
I should have just ordered another pats:crying: :crying:

It'll probably be an open estimate, since it's hard to say what they might find inside.
Yep.....
Some used parts are easy to get stung on...

i never had much luck with the transcrafter converter's. they dont hold up very long if you put any kind of power to them. by the time you open it and have any repair's done. you could have bought a new one.
