I was wondering if anyone could explain to be how to take off a torque converter for a 2004r, and how hard it is/stuff i'll need, and need to do to do it safely, I really don't want to bring it to a shop and let it sit while it gets shipped back to precision. The car came with it so thats why I have no idea how to do it.

Also installation and precautions and stuff i need to do to it while putting back on, if need, so that it all works find would be great to. I guessing putting it back on follows the same steps as taking it off.

a jack, jackstands, a block of wood to put between the jack and the trans pan... two people.. patience.

changed my tranny 2x with my grandpa.. not so bad.

make sure.. make sure.

when putting the tc on, push it as far as it will go then rotate it while continuing to push.. if you dont do this everythign wont line up and it wont slide on all the way.. once you bolt it up like this you are ****ED.. i think it usually cracks the front pump. i think there should be actually a little space, maybe a cm or so, once the tranny is bolted up to the engine between the TC and the flywheel.. you will probably have to cinch it up to the flywheel.. but if its binding you know the TC is not fully engaged on the splines.

Hope this helps, you want to engage the front pump and then input shaft. It should go in twice, kinda like what you don't want when you have sex with a pregnant woman. :dong:
